Tracking Evidence Screenshot Checklist

Use this checklist before a tracking audit when Shopify, GA4, Google Ads, Meta, session replay, or bot reports disagree. It keeps order truth, event truth, ad attribution, and traffic noise in separate lanes.

Screenshot groups

Capture these groups before asking a marketer, developer, or support team to diagnose the mismatch.

Shopify order truth
  • Orders report with date range, order IDs, revenue, currency, refunds, and channel where available.
  • Abandoned checkout export with timestamps, email quality, country, source hints, and recovery state.
  • Checkout or order timeline screenshots for one representative successful and failed path.
GA4 event truth
  • Purchase event count, revenue, transaction_id, source / medium, and country for the same date range.
  • begin_checkout and add_to_cart counts next to purchase counts.
  • DebugView, Tag Assistant, or server event evidence for one test order.
Ad platform truth
  • Google Ads conversion action, import source, primary/secondary setting, attribution window, and diagnostics.
  • Meta purchase event count, deduplication status, event match quality, and pixel/CAPI source.
  • Campaign date range and conversion lag settings before comparing platform totals.
Noise and consent
  • Consent banner state by country and browser, including granted/denied tag states.
  • Session replay samples tied to Shopify checkout timestamps rather than isolated recordings.
  • Bot/referrer, user agent, suspicious geography, fake email, and checkout velocity screenshots.

Use it in five passes

01Use one date range across Shopify, GA4, Google Ads, Meta, and replay tools.
02Export Shopify order IDs before reading any ad platform number.
03Compare GA4 transaction_id rows against Shopify order IDs.
04Check Google Ads conversion action settings before changing campaign budgets.
05Separate bot and fake checkout evidence from real buyer behavior.

Check the mismatch before changing the stack.

Submit the store URL and the mismatch you see. The preview helps decide whether the next step is tracking evidence, checkout path evidence, bot cleanup, or a focused audit.
